Welcome to the Assumption-St. Bridget Library!

The mission of the library is to—-
  • anticipate and respond to the students’ need for information
  • provide reading materials to meet the interests of all the students
  • nurture a desire to read
  • encourage lifelong learning
The library is available to students and staff every school day from 8:00 until 3:30.  Kindergarten through 5th grade students have weekly scheduled library time while 6th – 8th grade students use the library resources to support their studies.  There are over 10,000 books in the library that are available for checkout for students in all grades.  Students learn about the library and how it works including introducing the Dewey Decimal System, playing games and encouraging students to read a variety of books.  Weekly book displays are used to springboard library lessons.  The s tudents learn to find books, re-file books and use the computer.  Students are encouraged to read different genres of books and know about various authors.

Delicious autumn!  My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird

I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.
George Eliot

The new school year has begun and fallTreemy favorite season is here.  I love Autumn with the leaves turning color, the temperature cooling, hunkering down with a juicy book.  I’m excited about the school year, revisiting books and discovering new ones.  I’m always on a quest for new books, reading reviews and checking out book blogs.

We’re starting slow, going over checkout procedures.  Next week we’re going on a Treasure Hunt and checking out books about Pirates.  Mysteries and football books are up after that and ending the month with Dogs, Apples, and the Moon.

The Scholastic Book Fair is just around the corner, October 18th-21st.  If you would like to volunteer, give me a call!

One of my favorite book blogs is Boys Read!.  They have fantastic book lists for boys (and girls) of all ages.  It’s a local blog and you can find it at boysread.org.

Everyone is always welcome in the library, hope to see you soon!
